1st Guard Corporation, a truck insurer based out of Venice, Fla., has introduced a free mobile application for the iPhone, Trucker1, designed for owner-operators.
"The iPhone provides a perfect platform for extending information to and communication with our customers," said Daniel Ribar, CIO of 1st Guard Corporation. "For owner-operators, Trucker1 represents a new level of productivity."
Using the application, truck drivers can transmit route and location details to e-mail and Facebook accounts. For those 1st Guard customers, the application also includes instant coverage verification, which replaces the need to carry insurance ID cards, and an easy but technically advanced claims submission process.
"We used the full gambit of technologies - GPS, reverse geo-coding, social-networking, geo-stamping images, web services and more to define what an app like this should be," said Ribar.
1st Guard Corporation has announced a 10 percent insurance discount for all qualifying users starting Jan. 1, 2010. The company anticipates that Trucker1 will ultimately lead to lower processing and customer service costs.
"We've literally put an insurance company in the palm of our customers' hand and topped it off with premium savings," said Ribar.
