SOMS Technologies has launched a Fleet Adoption Program for its microGreen Extended Performance Oil Filter, so fleets can test the filter's performance under severe conditions and the fleet's operating conditions.

According to the company, the filter cuts oil maintenance costs by 65 percent, reduces the use of motor oil by 70 percent, and lowers the number of filter changes by 50 percent.

Under the program, a carrier purchases two cases (12 per case) of the microGreen filter at a 40 percent discount off the selling price. The customer can install the filters in their fleet, but must reserve four filters for test vehicles.

The company has specific criteria for these test vehicles, including:

• The four vehicles must be ready for their scheduled oil maintenance.

• Fleets are required to take a sampling of the dirty oil for baseline analysis. SOMS will provide oil sampling kits and instructions free of charge.

• SOMS says not to change the oil, but take off the old filter and replace with the microGreen oil filter.

• The carrier is then required to take two additional samplings, one after another 3,000 or 5,000 miles, and another sampling after an additional 3,000 or 5,000 miles.

• After driving these miles, change the filter on the test vehicles and install a new microGreen oil filter.

Customers will then receive the test results to compare the three samples across test vehicles. If fleets are not satisfied with the microGreen filter, they can return unused filters for a full refund.
