Big UPS Order for NG Tractors Follows 300 Million Successful ‘Green’ Miles

At the ACT Expo in Washington, D.C., Mack displayed a Pinnacle tractor like the 122 just ordered by UPS. It has a Cummins ISX12 G engine that runs on liquefied natural gas instead of compressed NG.

United Parcel Service is so committed to using low-emissions fuels that all of the 700 Class 8 vehicles it has ordered for delivery late this year and into 2014 will run on liquefied natural gas.

Today, the Florida House passed HB 579 to promote the use of natural gas fuels in Florida. On Tuesday, HB 579 passed the Florida Senate 39-0 and was immediately sent to the Florida House. That chamber took up the bill on Thursday, passing it 116-2.

Shell and TravelCenters of America have finalized plans to build a network of liquified natural gas fueling stations.

Columbus to Place 18 CNG Automated Side Loaders Into Service by End of 2013

The City of Columbus will have a total of 64 CNG units in service in total by year-end 2013. Out of that number, 18 will be CNG automated side loaders.

The City of Columbus, Ohio, plans to place an additional 44 dedicated CNG units into service by the end of 2013. Columbus is also currently building a second CNG fueling site located on the north side of the city.
