Bulldog Hiway Express, Charleston, S.C., is merging with the Daseke family of flatbed, open-deck and specialty carriers.
Bulldog handles dedicated, for-hire, open-deck operations, intermodal port deliveries and heavy hauls with a fleet of more than 400 trailers and several hundred trucks. President and CEO Phil Byrd is the immediate past chairman of The American Trucking Associations.
Byrd says he got to know Daseke and its CEOs through his work with ATA. “They are an elite group led by Don [Daseke], who is building something profound and unique in this industry. It’s clear that he’s investing in people and companies that have well-deserved reputations for quality and integrity. Why wouldn’t we want to be a part of that?”
“Bulldog is a great match with our family of companies,” said Don Daseke, president and CEO of Daseke Inc. “They have an extremely enviable position in the markets they serve, and are dedicated to customer service, as well as [to] their own employees.”
Bulldog operates throughout the U.S. and Canada supporting the automotive and energy sectors including wind, solar and nuclear power. The company will be joining Smokey Point Distributing, E.W. Wylie, J. Grady Randolph, Central Oregon Truck Company, Lone Star Transportation and the Boyd Companies under the Daseke umbrella.
