Rhode Island’s governor signed into law a controversial measure that will impose tolls on commercial trucks traveling through the state — reportedly the only state with a truck-only tolling system.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has provided a list of the locations under consideration for placing toll gantries, should lawmakers approve a controversial plan to begin truck-only tolling.
The question, agree those on both side of the truck-tolling divide, is how to pay for the extensive repairs and improvements needed to keep Rhode Island competitive with its New England neighbors.
