As Virginia lawmakers work to try to address congestion problems on I-81, including a controversial toll proposal that critics say is unfair to trucking, one creative proposal has come up that would put trucks on trains – drivers and all.
One of the nation’s largest truckstop chains will soon have one less location and truckers will reportedly lose nearly 130 parking spaces along the Interstate 81 corridor.

UPDATED -- Because a tanker fire has closed I-81 in the Harrisburg, Pa., area, the Pennsylvania Turnpike between Harrisburg East (#247) and Carlisle (#226), is being used as an alternate route. Tolls are being waived for all vehicles that enter and exit at those two interchanges only.
