A Different Approach to Runaway Trucks [video]
The Colorado Motor Carrier Association is recommending the state DOT to adopt a new type of truck runaway ramp on I-70's Straight Creek Canyon and on Wolf Creek Pass on U.S. 160. The systems work in a similar manner to aircraft carriers with nets that slow planes as they return to the ship. The systems have proven very successful and require less space. CMCA shared this video from the Wyoming DOT, which is using the system successfully.
