After an in-depth investigation, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has revoked the operating authority registration of four commercial bus companies for willfully failing to comply with federal safety regulations.

Each of the four carriers was found to have intentionally provided a misleading or false physical address as its principal place of business. Safety regulations prohibit a carrier from falsely designating its physical address or principal place of business when it is not engaged in business operations related to the location.

The bus companies who had their USDOT operating authority registration revoked are:

  • AKAI, Homewood, Ala.
  • Luxury Express Bus Company, Norcross, Ga.
  • Magnum Coach Lines, Waltham, Mass.
  • Hermes Luxury Coach, Raleigh, N.C.

The violations were discovered as part of a four-month, multi state investigation. As a result of the investigation, the four bus companies may be liable for penalties of up to $25,000 per violation.
