Nov. 12 – Ohio state troopers are asking for help in finding the driver of a Peterbilt that struck a woman on the Ohio Turnpike Monday evening, killing her.

The woman, 47-year-old Cynthia Ross, had stopped her car and was struck about 6:10 p.m. as she was standing or walking in the westbound lanes between the State Route 8 and Interstate 77 exits, reports the Akron Beacon Journal. Police do not know why she was stopped; the car was not out of gas and was not broken down.
There were no witnesses, but troopers found a yellow turn signal lens at the accident scene and were able to determine it came from a Peterbilt. Troopers note it’s possible that the driver might not have realized they hit a person, but might have thought they hit an animal, instead. The truck probably was damaged in the right front fender and grille area.
Anyone with information about the crash should call the Hiram State Highway Patrol post at (440) 234-2096.
