Ohio has a new toll-free number to report stranded motorists or road rage.

The State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Department of Transportation have teamed up to sponsor the new number, 1-877-7-PATROL. Callers to the number will be routed to the nearest highway patrol post. The new number, which will be printed on signs dotting the state’s major highways, will help ease traffic on local communities’ 911 emergency lines.
The patrol has another toll-free number to report motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs: 1-800-GRABDUI. More than 26,000 calls have been received on that line since it was introduced in 1991.
