Oct. 19 – American Freightways, Harrison, AR, is raising its general freight rates 5.5% to 5.9% on Nov. 1, reports the Journal of Commerce.
Additional adjustments will be made in certain longhaul and imbalanced areas.
Meanwhile, Con-Way Transportation, Ann Arbor, MI, has announced that it does not intend to increase general freight rates the rest of the year. “Many LTL carriers have recently raised their rates, some as high as 6% … in an effort to improve their margins,” says Gerald Detter, president and CEO of Con-Way.
