The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced a southbound closure of I-95 from Churchman's Road Bridge to the Route 7 & Route 1 interchange.
The closure is from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., starting Tuesday, April 19. The additional closure days are April 20,21 and 22. The department said the complete closure is required for the construction of the new Churchman's Road Bridge and is being done at night over a period of days to lessen the impact.
Each night the closure will have a gradual shut down process to help reduce traffic problems. On April 18,19,20 and 21 work will begin at 10:00 p.m. with the closing of two left lanes of southbound I-95 from just south of Route 141 to south of Churchman's Road. At midnight the full closure will begin. All lanes will open to traffic at 5:00 a.m. that morning.
Southbound traffic will be rerouted from I-95 south to westbound Churchman's Road, to the southbound I-95 on-ramp.
