Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., one of the largest LTL carriers in the U.S., announced an agreement Tuesday to purchase substantially all the assets of Wichita Southeast Kansas Transit
, known as WSKT, headquartered in Parsons, Kan. WSKT produced revenue of approximately $68 million for its fiscal year ended September 30, 2004. WSKT operates 43 terminals in 10 states. The transaction is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, subject to normal closing conditions. Old Dominion is headquartered in Thomasville, N.C.
Earl E. Congdon, chairman and CEO of Old Dominion, said, "We intend to combine WSKT's 43 service center operations and its entire route structure with Old Dominion's network of 139 service centers, increasing the company's network to 149 service centers.”
