The Truckload Carriers Assn. is hosting an audio conference beginning at noon Eastern time on Thursday Oct. 28. The conference is called Contract Rights--The Ball's in the Carriers Court.

The conference is intended to help carriers take advantage of current capacity shortages to improve efficiency and profitability.
“For too long, shippers and brokers have dictated the service terms and conditions for truckload carriers,” the association says on its web site. “Contract exclusions and loopholes have denied carriers just compensation for accessorial charges, increasing bad debts, cutting off recourse and exacerbated cargo loss and damaging claims through special and consequential damages.
The conference is intended to provide contracting tools to establish and enforce carrier dictated terms and conditions through proper use of three documents:
* bills of lading;
* carrier’s service conditions or rules circular; and
* bilateral contracts.
