Nistevo Corp., Eden Prairie, Minn., announced that Smithfield Foods, the
world's largest pork processor and hog producer, has joined the Nistevo Collaborative Logistics Network.
Smithfield is based in Smithfield, Va.
The Nistevo Network will enable Smithfield to connect the logistics operations from its ten independent business units, automate manual tendering processes and offer better order visibility to its customers nationwide. Smithfield will connect its many processing and distribution sites, its private fleet of over 900 trucks and more than 350 core carriers. More than a third of those carriers are already on the Nistevo Network supporting other refrigerated shippers.
Nistevo provides a hosted software service that enables manufacturers, retailers and carriers to plan, execute and settle their inbound and outbound full and less-than-truckload transportation.
