ALK Technologies Inc., Princeton, N.J., has been awarded a contract by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to operate, maintain and supply point-to-point routing for the National Hazardous Materials Route Registry.

ALK’s PC*MILER/HazMat will serve as the routing and mapping engine for this web-based service sponsored by the FMCSA.
PC*MILER/HazMat is point-to-point highway routing, mileage and mapping software with nationwide hazmat-compliant mileages and driving directions. It allows motor carriers, shippers and logistics companies to determine routes and mileages for hauling hazardous materials while ensuring compliance with government regulations.
Routes can be generated for general, explosive, inhalant and radioactive hazardous materials.
"We're excited to have been awarded this opportunity and to strengthen our relationship with the FMCSA," said Ed Siciliano, vice president of sales and marketing for ALK Technologies. "With heightened scrutiny on the transportation of hazardous materials, the selection of ALK and our PC*MILER/HazMat solution demonstrates the confidence the FMCSA has in our ability to safely and effectively route volatile shipments throughout the country."
