CSI Wireless Inc. has announced an agreement to be the exclusive telematics hardware supplier to Directed Electronics Inc., one of the largest after-market vehicle security and remote-start manufacturers,
with sales in more than 46 countries.
CSI will provide a unique telematics product that serves as the enabling technology for Directed's new Directrack stolen vehicle tracking system.
Directrack will be sold under four of Directed's biggest-selling brands -- Viper, Python, Clifford and Automate -- through the company's network of more than 5,000 dealers. Directed's largest retail dealers include chains such as Best Buy and Circuit City in the U.S., and Future Shop and Best Buy in Canada.
"Thanks to our expertise in GPS location determination, asset tracking and wireless communications, CSI Wireless is quickly becoming the supplier of choice for other manufacturers and systems integrators in the automotive security and location-based services industries," said Stephen Verhoeff, CSI Wireless' president and CEO.
Directrack works stand-alone as a stolen vehicle tracking device, or combines voice messaging, text messaging and/or Internet connections to enable customers to utilize a range in two-way communication, monitoring and control of their vehicles across a broad range of coverage in the United States and Canada.
The company says Directrack overcomes the limitation of competing wireless tracking systems that become active only when the owner reports the vehicle missing, which can be hours, days or even weeks after a theft occurs. Directrack becomes active -- and sends an alert to the consumer -- as soon as the vehicle is moved without authorization.
CSI Wireless has begun serving several emerging high-growth markets including fleet management, asset tracking, telematics and mobile computing applications. For online information about CSI Wireless, visit www.csi-wireless.com.
