Nexterna is offering an enhanced version of its wireless location tracking software.

Among other things, the latest software release, OptiTrac 4.0, allows customers to define occurrences that generate alerts. For example, the OptiTrac software can generate an email alert notifying the operations manager if any mobile asset has sat idle for longer than a specified period of time.
Customers can define zones -- a specific geographic area -- that initiate reporting. Zones can be used to trigger a report of data like fuel, speed or location; a reporting that a particular asset is either entering or moving outside a specified area; or a reporting that an asset has entered a particular area like a rail interchange point or freight loading dock.
These reportings, which are stored in the OptiTrac database, can be accessed and analyzed anytime.
Alert processing can also be employed with new event management capabilities in the OptiTrac 4.0 application to detect if a mobile unit has been idle too long. These alerts are completely configurable and can be set up to initiate a visual notification or an email message indicating an Alert has occurred.
Nexterna's OptiTrac software is an advanced location tracking application that allows companies with fleets of mobile assets -- service vehicles, trucks or locomotives -- to gather detailed information about their location, utilization and operation. It integrates Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies with wireless data communication technology to track and monitor vehicle data. Real-time and historical information is presented in graphical maps and reports accessible via the Web.
The collected data can be used for historical reporting and trending purposes to provide detailed information about the location, utilization and operation of each service truck, or additional data about service territories or customer locations. The OptiTrac 4.0 application enhances reporting by enabling changes in the reporting and collection intervals for different areas. For example more frequent reporting can be configured for highly congested areas. Access of this tracking and location data is available offline in the latest release and can also be integrated to back office systems.
