Contract Freighters, Joplin, Mo., is offering drivers who stay with the company longer more pay.

CFI will still pay drivers 32 cents per mile for one year of experience. The company is increasing pay at eight different levels, depending on the number of miles a driver has driven for CFI.
CFI's previous scale offered higher pay for drivers starting at 250,000 miles, with a half-cent raise to 32.5 cents per mile. Now drivers will get a raise after only 125,000 miles, from 32 cents to 33 cents per mile. The sliding scale goes up from there, with drivers from 250,000 to 1,499,000 getting a 1.5-cent-per-mile raise and drivers with 1.5 million miles and above getting a 2-cent per mile raise. The previous scale offered up to 36 cents per mile for drivers with at least 2.5 million miles at CFI, the highest the scale goes. Those drivers will now get 2 cents per mile more, for 38 cents per mile.
The new policy affects both existing drivers and drivers who have gone to work for other trucking companies and are eligible for rehire at CFI.
