State funds may be used to repair the damage caused by a truck that plowed through the California Capitol in January. The California Senate on Thursday approved the use of $16.5 million
to fix the building after truck driver Mike Bowers, 37, drove his rig into the Capitol's south portico.
The state hopes to recover the money from Bower's employer, Dick Simon Trucking of Salt Lake City, or the company's insurer.
The bill now goes back to the Assembly, which passed a different version of the measure in March.
