and honored two drivers for their recruiting efforts.
Scott, who has been with the company for 10 years, was surprised with the honor at the annual driver's meeting at Maverick's headquarters in Little Rock, Ark., earlier this month.
"I was truly surprised," said Scott.
One of the 12 Maverick Drivers of the Month, Scott is a leader in the company's fleet, with over eight consecutive years of safe driving.
Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet, who takes pride in his profession and the company, employs safety, and maintains Maverick standards in all they do. Employees vote from the Drivers of the Month, and the Driver of the Year is announced at the annual driver's meeting.
Maverick also honored two drivers for helping the company recruiting drivers. Brian Schondel of Plato, Mo., and Gary Gentry of Madison, Tenn., tied for Driver Referral Winner of the Year for 2000. Both have been with the company over three years.
Schondel attributes his recruiting success to Maverick's excellent equipment. "I pull up at a shipper, and I have everything I need," said Schondel. "I see guys having a hard time with their equipment, their tarps or other things, and I just let them know they can have what I have if they come to work for Maverick."
Gentry is confident in the company, as the "product" he sells to drivers out on the road. "There's no competition when it comes to home time and equipment," Gentry said.
"A majority of the new drivers we hire are referred by other Maverick drivers," said Maverick President Stephen Selig.
Operating over 700 units, Maverick provides flatbed services to the metal and building material industries coast-to-coast.
