The Virginia Department of Transportation is continuing an extensive reconstruction project on what has become known as the "Mixing Bowl" this week, and is shutting down lanes on I-95 near the Springfield Interchange.

One lane will be closed on the northbound side of I-95 from Exit 169 to Commerce Street Bridge, which is under construction, while two lanes will be shut down from Route 644 to the bridge as well. One lane will also be closed from Commerce Street Bridge to the Franconia-Springfield Parkway.
On I-95’s southbound side, one lane will be closed on the stretch between I-495 and the Franconia-Springfield Parkway, along with the two left southbound lanes between the I-495 Beltway and the Parkway for bridgework and steel erection.
Also on the southbound side, one lane will be shut down from Commerce Street Bridge to the Franconia-Springfield Parkway for bridge construction.
