DriverNet, Kansas City, Mo., has announced an agreement with PhoneOnline.com, Knoxville, Tenn., to bring financial and technology-based services to fleets and drivers using the Internet accessed over wireless systems.
DriverNet is best known for its Internet kiosks at truckstops. PhoneOnline.com specializes in Internet-based services for wireless phones using Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) technology. WAP-based mobile phones are not yet available in the U.S., but could be within months.
PhoneOnline.com is also developing a WAP mobile communications system for truckload carrier Landstar System, Jacksonville, FL.
