Despite a dip in earnings caused by higher fuel costs, P.A.M. Transportation Services posted solid second quarter results with an 88.6% operating ratio, said President Robert Weaver.

The Tonitown, Ark., carrier reported net income of $2.8 million on operating revenues of $53 million for second quarter 2000, compared to net income of $3.3 million on revenues of $53.7 million for second quarter 1999. Net income for the first half of 2000 was $4.9 million on revenues of $107 million versus $$6.1 million on $105.1 million for the first half of 1999.
“Our goal is to post strong earnings and increase revenues to offset the continuing rise in various operating expenses, including fuel, insurance, and wages,” Weaver said.
