The Virginia Department of Transportation last weekend began a major construction project to restore the James River Bridge that carries I-95 through downtown Richmond.

Each Sunday through Thursday night, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., three lanes of traffic in each direction will be reduced to one lane in each direction. During these times, expect heavy delays, particularly between the hours of 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Recently, VDOT conducted a test work zone set-up and traffic was backed up for at least 2 miles on either side of the bridge.
