Connecticut police are calling a safety crackdown targeting truckers a success, saying it reduced tractor-trailer rollovers and generated $116,000 in fines.
Operation ROAR (Roll Over Accident Reduction) lasted 10 weeks. It focused on I-95 near Exit 10 and Exit 15, areas identified as common rollover locations. Similar efforts were conducted on I-95 in Bridgeport and New Haven, on I-84 in Danbury and Waterbury, and on I-395 in the eastern part of the state.
The operation targeted motorists and truckers who sped or drove aggressively. Police issued 628 tickets and put 21 tractor-trailers out of service.
