Ozark Motor Lines is raising its salary cap for company drivers from 35 cents to 37 cents a mile. Local news sources also report that the company will adjust its pay scale for new drivers to give credit for new hires.
The Memphis based truckload carrier recently bumped owner-operator compensation from 81 cents per mile to 85 cents per mile, including a temporary 2 cent-per-mile fuel supplement.
The company employs some 450 company drivers and has approximately 200 owner-operators under contract. It primarily hauls paper, electronics and health care supplies throughout the U.S. A company executive told local reporters that its turnover rate for company drivers is 70% and its turnover for owner-operators is 60%.
