Trailer tracking has advanced on both business and geographical fronts. On the business side, trailer maker Wabash National Corp., Lafayette, IN, announced intentions to ally itself with Terion, Inc., Melbourne, FL. Wabash makes trailers under both the Wabash and Fruehauf nameplates. Terion offers mobile commucations solutions including FleetView, a trailer monitoring system. According to a Monday press release from Wabash, the companies plan to co-develop and market advanced trailer management systems.
Meanwhile, Orbcomm of Dulles, VA, operators of the low-earth-orbit satellite system widely used for trailer tracking among other applications, announced it would be extending the reach of its services to Mexico, Guatamala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Belize through its Mexican licensee, Orbcomm de Mexico. Trailer tracking service will be available through Vantage Tracking Solutions, Inc., an Orbcomm operating unit.
