The first group of new truck driving recruits from Puerto Rico is expected to arrive on the U.S. mainland next week.

More than 20 drivers trained at The Trucking Institute in Puerto Rico will arrive on March 21 and will be employed by Quality Driver Source, which will in turn lease them to Memphis, TN truckload fleet M.S. Carriers.
World-Wide Solutions, a Puerto Rican consulting company, is orchestrating the venture and eventually hopes to supply up to 2,000 driving jobs annually for Puerto Ricans.
M.S. Carriers has agreed to provide on-location training and employment for the first 1,000 drivers trained through the program.
World-Wide says all drivers will be required to re-certify their commercial drivers licenses and undergo several tests, including a physical, drug, and personality tests, as well as background checks.
