Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has launched an auction web site for rebuildable cores -- heavy duty parts, such as engines, alternators, transmissions, compressors, etc.

CoreBin.com , as the site is called, will allow anyone seeking rebuildable core parts a single locating source. Similarly, CoreBin.com will provide sellers with an easy-to-use outlet. The site is open to both companies and individuals; the only requirement for participation is a valid credit card. Of course, you must register.
According to Bendix, the site features options such as an active agent that can look for particular items on your behalf even when you're not online. You can also get help arranging for transportation. CoreBin.com's default carrier is Roadway Express.
Among other heavy duty cores up for auction are air dryers, clutches, differentials, electrical components, hydraulics, brakes, part take offs, pumps, steering, turbos, valves, wheels and more. Users unable to find a particular core can post a classified ad.
Once an auction concludes, the method of payment is determined off-line between buyer and seller, according to Bendix. CoreBin.com will generate revenue by collecting a percentage of the sale price. At the moment, the rate is 7 percent.
According to Bendix, CoreBin will supersede the current core market which frequently involves middlemen and multiple transactions between ultimate buyers and sellers. CoreBin.com went live online on February 8.
