American Freightways Corp. plans to open 17 more customer centers in the North East by April, expanding coverage to the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

This expansion will allow the fleet to provide direct all-points intrastate, regional and interregional LTL service to the nation's 39 eastern-most states.
It presently serves direct all points in 32 eastern, midwestern, southeastern, and southwestern states. Through partnerships, it also serves Alaska, Canada, Caribbean Islands,
Central America, Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and South America.
