Pacific Detroit Diesel Allison Co. has purchased 14 acres in the Ridgefield Junction of Portland, OR, where it plans to build a $5 million facility.
The company will build offices and a
service and parts distribution business for truck engines, transmissions and electrical generators.
The privately owned company has operated on Portland's Swan Island since the 1970s.
About 110 to 120 people are expected to work at the new facilities as mechanics, engine technicians, electrical technicians and office personnel. Construction of the 80,000-square-foot facility isn't expected to begin until late this year. The company says it outgrew the Swan Island site three years ago and had been working on the move for a year.
