Nissan Motor Co. says it will announce a restructuring plan for its struggling Nissan Diesel Motor Co. by the end of January.

At a news conference held in conjunction with the North American International auto show in Detroit, Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn admitted that the unit's debt load "is seen as a repellent" by potential buyers, such as DaimlerChrysler.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Ghosn said Nissan Diesel's problems should be fixed "once and for all" with the new plan. After that, they will consider various options, including selling the unit.
