Con-Way Southern Express plans to build a 60,000-square-foot distribution center near Birmingham, AL.

The $6 million terminal will be built in Bessemer, AL, off Interstate 459. It will more than triple the space Con-Way now has at its Pinson Valley, AL, facility. The existing terminal has 24 truck loading bays. The new one will have 100 bays, with room to add another 50.
The new center will increase the number of Con-Way employees in Birmingham from 53 to 75. The company expects that number to grow close to 100 in the next two years.
Construction is expected to be complete by November 2000.
