American Freightways, Harrison, AR, announced it is expanding its workforce and office facilities located at Harrison.

Over the next five years, the less-than-truckload carrier expects to add 500 management, administrative and clerical positions to its Harrison workforce, up from the current 873.
To accommodate the increased work force, American Freightways will add a 90,000-square-foot wing to its offices. A 5,000-square-foot credit union and a 3,700-square-foot print shop will also be built on site. The company's present facilities include 161,100 square feet under roof located on 51 acres.
A new employee parking lot will accommodate 724 automobiles. Two retention ponds and landscaping will give the finished project a business park appearance.
The entire project will be completed and occupied by September 7, 2000, and will cost about $12.5 million.
