The Transport Safe Training Center in New Orleans was recently the site of a party marking the inception of the school's alumni association.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper, many of the more than 500 graduates returned to the school for the party. The school has been in operation since 1996. Last year, the Orleans Private Industry Council presented its "Award for Consistent Superior Performance" to Transport Safe Training Center for its outstanding record in training and placing council trainees in jobs with livable wages and career potential.
"The school's success in training and placing urban residents from diverse ethnic and gender backgrounds in good-paying jobs is unique within the trucking industry," said Eileen O'Malley, Training Center project coordinator.
