The Maintenance Council awarded its highest honor, the Silver Spark Plug Award, to three trucking industry professionals during the council's 1999 Fall Meeting in Tampa, FL.

The recipients were awarded the Silver Spark Plug for their outstanding contributions to the improvement of equipment, its maintenance and maintenance management.
The 1999 TMC Silver Spark Plug Recipients are: Hershel Brown, director of maintenance, Proline Carriers, Nashville, TN; Eileen Lindberg, Peterbilt account manager for on-highway truck sales, Detroit Diesel Corp., Detroit; and Kevin Otto, director of advanced diagnostics, Cummins Engine Co., Columbus, IN.
The Silver Spark Plug is awarded annually to no more than five individuals who have given outstanding service to TMC for at least five years, including three years' active service with a study group and/or task force. They have contributed new ideas, practices or innovations in the maintenance of commercial motor vehicles and have earned the respect and admiration of their peers in the trucking industry.
Since the award's 1968 inception, 127 individuals have been recognized with the Silver Spark Plug Award. Both fleet representatives and members of the supplier community are eligible.
TMC is a technical council of the American Trucking Assns. and is the leading professional technical society for fleet equipment managers.
