Highway construction and summer vacation traffic are making Cincinnati's I-275 dangerous, especially near where it connects with I-71.

Four church group members died and 11 were injured last Thursday when a tractor-trailer hit their van from the rear, pushing it into a pickup and another 18-wheeler.
Road construction has closed I-71 downtown, with drivers being advised to take I-275 as a detour. Bumper-to-bumper traffic is common, especially on east- and westbound I-275 at rush hour heading for I-71 northbound ramps. Slowed traffic waiting to get on I-71 extends into the I-275 through lanes.
The construction project on I-71 will widen the interstate from two to three lanes and is scheduled to be finished next year. Two other projects planned within the next five years also will help traffic flow.
