Work began yesterday on the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi river between West Memphis, AR, and Memphis, TN, and will continue until the end of May.

The work will mean some lanes will be closed on the bridge, and any vehicles over 12 feet in width will be banned entirely until the work is completed. Crews will be working 24 hours a day to speed up the project.
You may want to cross the river at the I-55 bridge instead, which carries traffic into Memphis a few miles south of the downtown area.
The I-40 bridge normally carries about 35,000 vehicles a day.
