Work on Chicago’s Stevenson Expressway is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks and last for 10 months, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Work on inbound Interstate 55 will close the highway completely between Pulaski and the Dan Ryan Expressway and from La Grange Road to the Des Plaines River. That means traffic on the former outbound side will have to carry vehicles in both directions. There will be nighttime lane closures, and the speed limit will be 45 mph.
A large section of the 1.5-mile-long viaduct between the Dan Ryan Expressway and Kedzie/California will be eliminated, replaced with 3,000 feet of road on a raised embankment with a half-mile-long bridge on each end. The state Department of Transportation says the new road will be easier to repair and maintain.
