Mack Trucks has been awarded a U.S. Postal Service contract worth approximately $29 million for 416 vehicles, with delivery expected to begin in the first quarter of 1999.
The order includes 44 Mack MR 372 Mack CH model vehicles. All of the vehicles will feature Mack E-Tech electronic engines rated at 300 horsepower. The heavyduty tractors will be delivered to Postal Service facilities nationwide and used for over-the-road transportation of mail throughout the country. The current contract follows a 1996 Postal Service order for 932 Macks and a 1992 purchase of 345.
