Sept. 21 — Omar Swazo of Barstow, CA, walked away from the first 18 Wheels of Hope event with a new Ford F-150 pickup. Swazo was one of 8,000 truckers who entered the Associates/Comdata Truck Driver Appreciation Sweepstakes this summer. Six eligible sweepstakes winners were flown to Nashville for the drawing during the 18 Wheels of Hope Live benefit concert.
The first annual 18 Wheels of Hope event was conceived by Comdata to unite the trucking industry in helping to feed America’s hungry children. The event included a truck convoy hauling enough food for 60 million meals and a trucking trade show and leadership conference at the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, as well as the concert at the Nashville Arena. All collected food and a percentage of the proceeds from the annual event benefit Oklahoma City-based Feed the Children.
