Sept. 17 — Burlington Motor Carriers, Daleville, IN, announced it will purchase 450 new conventional condos for use as company trucks during 1999. This is the third year Burlington has purchased new trucks as it converts its fleet of 1,600 cabovers to new conventional models. In 1997, Burlington bought 100 1997 Freightliner FLD 120 models and in 1998, 200 1998 Freightliner Century Class conventionals. The company has not yet announced what make the 1999 purchase will be.
Burlington has transferred the replaced cabover trucks to the Discovery lease-purchase program that began in 1995. The company also purchased 400 53-foot trailers this year.
