The Federal Communications Commission will allow Flash Comm Inc., Melbourne, FL, to use a portion of the HF radio spectrum for its nationwide two-way tracking and messaging network.
Targeted at transportation and public service industries, the network will allow real-time tracking in addition to two-way messaging.
Flash Comm’s PC software creates a map-based display and e-mail-style messaging windows that allow dispatchers to select the asset, type a message and send.
The vehicle’s remote device is about the size of a laptop computer and can be installed to the underside of a trailer, within the cab or next to a fixed asset. The battery-operated package provides verified communications in canyons, cities, and mountainous areas regardless of weather and other environmental factors.
