Got Questions? Modern Telematics Best Practices.

Q. So much data, so little time, how do I manage it?

A. One bite at a time! Today telematics can provide a tremendous amount of data but unfortunately many of us do not have enough time in our day already to get everything done. So how do we leverage all of this data to make our jobs easier and manageable?

First make a list of all the data points that are important to your business and then prioritize them. Starting from your highest priority data points determine which reports can address those specific data points and schedule that report to be automatically sent to the appropriate people. Assign specific people to take action on this data within their jurisdiction. These people might receive this report daily to immediately take action on critical issues.

Supervisors or Managers may receive this same report but only on a weekly basis to ensure the field addresses issues quickly. Executive might only receive this report monthly to monitor the trends to ensure improvement is happening over the long term.

Start with just a couple of your most important pieces of data and gradually over time, add another critical component. And be patient, it may take a full year to digest all of this data and develop a review plan but you can digest this data with time.
