Talbert Manufacturing has updated its 60CC/55SA-LD trailer for increased flexibility to meet differing hauling regulations. The newly updated trailer features a hydraulically operated system to allow operation of the third axle only or a combination of third and fourth axles.

The 60CC/55SA-LD also features an 18-inch loaded deck height — 2 inches lower than competitive models, the company said — and 6-inch ground clearance. It also gives operators the ability to switch between configurations, for state-of-the-art load versatility and limiting the need for additional permitting.

Talbert will showcase a customized 3+1 configuration of the 60CC/55SA-LD trailer at booth F5504 during ConExpo/ConAgg, March 10-14 in Las Vegas. The show model is designed to be under 53-foot overall length with a 28-foot deck length and tandem axle trailer with provisions for a third and fourth axle capable of a two, three, four and three-plus-one axle configuration set up. Capacity for various configurations are: 55 ton in 10-foot two-point rigid load base with 108-inch swing and four axles close coupled; 55 tons in 13-food two-point rigid load base with 132-inch swing and 3+1 E1Nitro axle extension; and 60 tons in 13-foot two-point rigid load base with 108-inch swing and four axles close coupled.

“When you look at the overall size of heavy-haul loads, a couple inches might not seem consequential; but to our customers, those two inches can make a world of difference,” said Troy Geisler, Talbert vice president of sales and marketing. “Talbert has always been at the forefront of heavy-haul innovations, providing the trailers customers need to operate safely and efficiently in industries around the world. The 60CC/55SA-LD offers these operators the flexibility they need with a single trailer.”

The base model of the 60CC/55SA-LD features a 108-inch swing radius, 26-foot deck length and 8-foot-6-inch deck width. Additional customization is possible, including a 24-inch flip gooseneck extension that increases swing radius to 132 inches and allows greater load transfer capabilities.

Talbert said the 60CC/55SA-LD trailer offers a 55-ton capacity in 10 feet and 60 tons in half the deck length. It is also rated for 55 tons in half the deck length with a 132-inch swing radius and 3+1 configuration with the E1Nitro axle extension system. This system uses a combination of hydraulic fluid and nitrogen to equalize axle pressures, providing proportionate weight distribution of each axle grouping to optimize the range of suspension movement and minimize stress for a smoother ride, according to the company.
