The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, which manages a bridge on the New York state and Canada border, has updated its toll payment platform to facilitate a more seamless two-way exchange of tolling and financial data.

The authority added the Bestpass toll management and payment platform, the toll management provider announced. The update includes upgraded toll scanning and collection technology for the bridge, which crosses the Saint Lawrence River and conects Wellesley Island, N.Y., with Hill Island, Ontario, Canada.

"With more than two million vehicles crossing the Thousand Islands Bridge each year, any step that we can take to keep traffic flowing more smoothly and ultimately provide a better experience for users is a tremendous benefit," said Robert Horr, the authority's executive director. "Our relationship with Bestpass will also help us process commercial toll transactions much more efficiently."
