Continental has renamed its long haul tire to improve clarity for buyers. The new nomenclature spells out vehicle classification, axle and application and is designed to let tire dealers and fleets pinpoint application and usage at a glance.

Formerly named Conti Hybrid HS3, the Conti HSL 3 is a heavy truck tire, designed for steer and all-position use, in long haul and super-regional applications.

While it meets EPA SmartWay requirements, it is differentiated from the Conti EcoPlus HS3, Continental’s most fuel-efficient long haul steer tire, by its flexibility for regional use.

The Conti HSL 3 is designed for smooth, even tread wear, long removal mileage, and low rolling resistance. The Fuel Saving Edge technology is designed to increase application flexibility, and is suitable for super-regional applications, such as hub-and-spoke freight distribution.

The tire is available in the following sizes: 11R22.5 Load Ranges G and H, and 295/75R22.5 Load Ranges G and H. It is available under the new name, Conti HSL 3, starting in July, with all sizes expected to be available by August.
