Ford Motor Co. has issued three individual recalls for its older F-150 half-ton pickups, 2019 Mustang, and several 2019 Lincoln models.
The automaker is recalling an estimated 1.48 million 2011-2013 Ford F-150 half-ton pickups with six-speed automatic transmission because they may unexpectedly downshift into first gear while the driver is operating the vehicle. With this scenario, the driver could lose control of the vehicle, increasing the likelihood of a crash.
Ford is aware of five accidents and one whiplash injury due to this issue.
To fix the problem, dealers will update the powertrain control module software in the affected vehicles.
Affected 2011-2013 F-150 half-ton pickups were built at Dearborn Assembly Plant from April 28, 2010 to Oct. 28, 2013 and Kansas City Assembly Plant from May 18, 2010 to Nov. 18, 2013. Ford's reference number for this recall is 19S07.
Ford has also issued a recall for approximately 28,200 2017-2019 Lincoln Continental luxury sedans because the door latch may not fully engage and lock. This situation could increase the chances of the door opening while the vehicle is in motion, which increases the risk of injury.
The automaker is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this matter.
To remedy the problem, dealers will remove and replace the door latch assemblies in all four doors of affected vehicles.
Affected 2017-2019 Lincoln Continental sedans were built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant from Nov. 30, 2015 to Nov. 14. Ford's reference number for this recall is 19S03.
Ford is also recalling an estimated 4,200 2019 Ford Mustang, 2019 Lincoln Nautilus, and 2019 Lincoln Navigator vehicles because the instrument panel cluster assemblies may appear blank upon vehicle startup.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
To fix the problem, dealers will update the instrument panel cluster software.
Affected vehicles include 2019 Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant from Nov. 5 to Jan. 15, 2019, Lincoln Nautilus vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant from Nov. 6 to Dec. 21, and 2019 Lincoln Navigator vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant from Nov. 4 to Dec. 15.
Ford reference number for this recall is 19C03.
