Got Questions? AOBRD to ELD Transition

Q. I want to start the process of switching our trucks from AOBRDs to ELDs now, and don’t really know how to even begin choosing an ELD. How should I start?

A. The best thing you’ve done already is to start the process long before the transition date. As fleets in the initial wave of the ELD implementation period learned in 2017, choosing a provider, installing the solution and training both drivers and back-office staff takes far longer than anticipated. The first step is to make sure that the specific ELD model you’re considering is on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)’s list of self-certified vendors, which can be found at https://eld.fmcsa.dot.gov/List.
